Family and Friends of Camp Atlantic,
Like all of you, we have been carefully following the Pandemic and all the illnesses and closures it has caused. We have reluctantly concluded that we will have to be closed for the summer of 2020. Our primary concern is the safety and health of our campers. Because of all the uncertainty and risk as to what may happen this summer, we cannot be sure that we would be able to operate safely this year.
We are planning several one day trips in August in the greater DC area that will be a lot of fun and will let us get together. We are working out the details of the trips and will be in touch with you when all the arrangements for the trips are in place.
I will be in touch with each family who has registered for camp this year. There will be a full refund of all camp fees that have been paid.
The calls we have received the past month have reinforced how important camp is to everyone. We are very sad to have come this conclusion but we know it is the best decision for the campers.
Keep in touch and see everyone in 2021!

Camp Atlantic is a private, residential
summer camp providing children, teenagers and adults with mental
and physical disabilities a safe and fun vacation at the beach.
The camp, which is located in Bethany Beach, Delaware, offers
separate youth and adult programs.
Camp
Atlantic provides a living experience for each camper that
is carefully designed around the beach community. The goal
of the camp is to improve social confidence and independent
living skills by living and socializing with peers under the
guidance of experienced and dedicated group leaders. Whether
it is a trip to the beach or a concert on the boardwalk, each
activity is designed to create opportunities for positive
social interaction. Camp Atlantic provides each camper the
opportunity to improve his or her social skills, mature positively
and develop an enhanced self-concept. Campers will gain a
sense of security and learn how to be relaxed, outgoing and
successful in a socially acceptable manner.
Campers
repeatedly tell us that they love camp. When asked, what makes
it fun, very often they say everything but do not talk about
specific activities. This, more than anything else, tells
us that we are accomplishing our objective because it is the
experience of the beach vacation that makes the vacation fun
and that is how most people explain why they return to the
beach year after year.
